Within just three years of membership, Soror Butler-Thomas has worked with intention and urgency to expand Sigma Gamma Rho’s presence across higher education institutions while ensuring undergraduate chapters are not only established but positioned for long-term stability and success.
Her approach reflects READY DAY 1 leadership. Leadership that arrives prepared, understands the campus environment, and acts proactively to support undergraduate chapters before challenges arise.
Chapter Chartering & Reactivation
Soror Butler-Thomas has supported key efforts to grow and restore Sigma’s collegiate footprint, including:
Supporting the chartering of Upsilon Upsilon Chapter at Widener University (Chester, PA)
Supporting the reactivation of Rho Theta Chapter at Susquehanna University (Selinsgrove, PA)
Supporting the reactivation of Eta Upsilon Chapter at Rutgers University (New Brunswick, NJ)

Membership Integrity & Accountability
Understanding that strong chapters require strong foundations, Soror Butler-Thomas conducted TORCH quality checks for 16 chapters across Area 6, including 7 collegiate chapters. This work strengthened operational excellence, reinforced accountability, and supported member education—ensuring chapters remain aligned with Sigma’s standards and values.
Campus Visibility & Engagement
Soror Butler-Thomas has represented Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. at Meet the Greeks and campus engagement events at institutions such as Stockton University (Atlantic County, NJ) and Temple University (Philadelphia, PA), among others. Through this work, she has introduced prospective members to Sigma’s legacy of service, scholarship, and sisterhood while increasing campus recognition and interest.

Amplifying Undergraduate Voices
Soror Butler-Thomas partnered with the National Pan-Hellenic Councils of New Jersey to sponsor “Undergraduates on the Hill,” providing collegiate members direct access to civic engagement and social action spaces. This initiative ensured undergraduate voices were not only present—but positioned, prepared, and amplified in meaningful ways.
Strategic Regional & National Partnerships
Recognizing the power of visibility and collaboration, Soror Butler-Thomas partnered with Area 4 leadership to expand Sigma’s presence at the HBCU Classic at MetLife Stadium, securing a $10,000 award for Sigma’s excellence and regional impact in 2024.
She also partnered with Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., Atlantic Coast Region to host over 100 high school students at the 2025 HBCU Classic introducing them early to Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and creating intentional pathways to future membership.
Leadership Development, Branding & Representation
Soror Butler-Thomas has led undergraduate and undergraduate advisor training on communications and public relations at both The Best of the East Undergraduate Summit and Advisor Summit, ensuring chapters are equipped to represent Sigma with clarity and confidence.
At the regional level, she led Northeastern Region trainings on marketing, branding, and Sigma image, providing members with practical tools to show up professionally, consistently, and proudly across campuses and communities.
As Co-Creator and Inaugural Lead Editor of the Aurora BUZZ, a subsidiary of Aurora Magazine, she expanded digital storytelling and undergraduate engagement across the sisterhood, modernizing how Sigma connects, informs, and uplifts its members.

Her leadership reflects READY DAY 1 preparation, ensuring that undergraduate members are supported not only during their collegiate years but through intentional, well-structured transitions into lifelong membership.
From the start, her work has focused on building sustainable connections between undergraduate and alumnae engagement so no Soror feels disconnected, unsupported, or unsure of where she belongs next.
Sustainable Transitions
Soror Butler-Thomas has assisted in the chartering and reactivation of undergraduate chapters while simultaneously strengthening alumnae support structures, ensuring continuity and stability on both sides of the collegiate experience.
As a higher education administrator and professor, she brings real-world insight into student development, transitions, and identity formation, uniquely positioning her to guide undergraduates through the critical shift from collegiate membership to active, engaged alumnae life.
Infrastructure & Legacy Building
Understanding that legacy requires structure, Soror Butler-Thomas led the rebranding and redesign of the SPEAR Foundation’s website and outward branding in preparation for its 30th Anniversary, modernizing the Foundation’s image while honoring its history.
She also wrote, filmed, edited, and produced the SPEAR IMPACT Video, preserving Sigma’s story and elevating its mission for current and future generations.
At the local level, she spearheaded initiatives raising over $13,000 in under six months, reinforcing financial sustainability and expanding service impact, key pillars of long-term organizational health.
National, Regional & Collegiate Leadership
Soror Butler-Thomas currently serves as Area 6 Coordinator and Northeastern Region Technology Committee Member, and previously served as SPEAR Foundation Marketing & Communications Director, roles that require continuity, innovation, and readiness across multiple levels of the organization.
She also serves as Undergraduate Chapter Coach for the Beta Delta Chapter at Temple University (Philadelphia, PA), maintaining direct, ongoing engagement with undergraduate members and their evolving needs.

Through this work, undergraduates are taught early that Sigma does not end at graduation.
